The collection of articles edited by Hungarian historians László Szárka and Attila Pók focuses on the consequences of the First World War for the peoples of East-Central Europe, the efforts of national minorities to achieve their own goals with the support of ethnically related states, and the nation-building strategies announced by these minorities. Avoiding the search for an answer to the question of personal and collective responsibility for the consequences of the global armed conflict, the authors of the specific-historical articles of the collection add new valuable details to the history of the countries and peoples of the region in the period of the world wars.
